Similar to an apprenticeship, you can study towards the National Certificates to become a REINZ accredited specialist or Branch Manager, and/or the National Diploma to become a Licensee, on the job. On job training identifies any knowledge gaps you may have through assessment and provides the learning tools to complete your study.
If you are employed by a licensed real estate company, you can access on job training. On job training is not available for the Salesperson's Course.
What is the process?
- Download an enrolment form, complete and return it to REINZ ITO.
- REINZ will prepare your training agreement, the papers you need to study, and the cost.
- You must sign the training agreement and return it with payment to REINZ ITO.
- REINZ ITO will send your training and assessment material.
- When you've completed an assessment, send it to REINZ ITO.
- REINZ ITO will check your assessment and advise whether you're competent in that particular topic.
- Once you have successfully completed all assessments, you will be awarded the qualification.
What is a training agreement?
A training agreement is a legal contract between you, the Salesperson, your Licensee, and the REINZ ITO that outlines your training and assessment requirements. It allows training to be subsidised and has a timeframe for completing the training.
The Salesperson will need to sign the training agreement to say they will do the study; their Licensee will sign it to say they will support the Salesperson with their study; and REINZ ITO will sign it to say that it will provide the tools and resources to learn.
