The Salesperson's Course can be completed by correspondence, online, or attending classes provided by one of our accredited course providers.

Is one course provider better than the other?

No. The difference between the course providers are their costs, timetables, venues, and mode of delivery. You choose which course provider suits your needs.

Branch Manager and Licensee qualifications

These changes do not apply to Massey courses.

What has changed?

The National Certificate and National Diploma have been updated, and a new Branch Manager's National Certificate has been introduced for Salespeople not wishing to continue studies towards Licensee status.

Where can I do the course?

  • REINZ ITO (through on job training) t: 09 356 1755
  • Bay of Plenty Polytechnic (for the National Certificate only)
  • The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand (TOPNZ)

What is on job training?

Similar to an apprenticeship, you can study towards the National Certificates to become a REINZ accredited specialist or Branch Manager, and/or the National Diploma to become a Licensee, on the job. On job training identifies any knowledge gaps you may have through assessment and provides the learning tools to complete your study.

If you are employed by a licensed real estate company, you can access on job training. On job training is not available for the Salesperson’s Course.

I'm enrolled in courses for the old qualifications. How do the changes affect me?

You have until 30 April 2009 to complete the assessments for those qualifications.

If you wish to continue study after this date, you will be studying the new qualifications. Don’t worry, you won’t lose the units you have gained through the old qualification, but you may have to complete some extra units.

Alternatively, you may choose to continue your study with TOPNZ. Contact the course provider for more information.

I've finished my National Diploma. Does this mean I have to complete more papers?

No. Once you have successfully completed the National Diploma in Real Estate, you have met the educational requirements of Licensee and can now apply for Associate Membership of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (AREINZ).
